The Nigerian film industry is grieving the loss of Nollywood actor, Big Larry, who passed away on Friday.
Famous movie producer, Stanley Ontop confirmed the news of his death via his official Instagram page.
Ontop shared a heartfelt tribute along with a picture of Larry, writing, “Nollywood actor Big Larry has just passed away. What caused his demise is yet to be known. May your soul rest in peace, Big Larry. Nollywood, Asaba mourns.”
The death of Big Larry adds to the series of losses Nollywood has experienced since the beginning of 2024.
The industry has already mourned the passing of several notable figures, including Mr Ibu, Amaechi Muonagor, Sisi Quadri, Ganiyu ‘Ogunjimi‘ Oyeyemi, and Junior Pope.
In response to the troubling trend of untimely deaths, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) had organized a 4-day fasting and prayer session in May 2024, led by Jerry Eze, founder of Streams of Joy International.
In a related development, Nollywood filmmaker, Shina Sanyaolu is dead.
Sanyaolu before his death was a popular film producer and director in the Yoruba genre of the Nollywood industry.
The cause and details surrounding his death remain sketchy as of the time of this report.
The President, Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria, Bolaji Amusan, confirmed Sanyaolu’s death.
