Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Ondo State Deputy Governor has asked the state house of assembly to transmit powers to him as acting governor of the state.
Aiyedatiwa reportedly informed the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly after the meeting between political stakeholders in Ondo State and President Bola Tinubu on Friday.
It was reported on Saturday that President Tinubu had during the meeting asked the assembly to appoint Aiyedatiwa as acting governor following Akeredolu’s absence for over five months.
The president, however, secured commitments from Aiyedatiwa to continue to look after Akeredolu and not sideline him.
As a result of the meeting, Aiyedatiwa asked the assembly to meet on Tuesday (tomorrow) and pass a resolution transferring power to him as acting governor.
There are also reports that a crowd has been organised to welcome Aiyedatiwa when he arrives in Akure later today ahead of Tuesday’s assembly sitting.
