The 2023 Presidential Candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore has accused Governor Akeredolu’s family members of being behind the latter’s death.
While speaking during an interview on News Central TV, Sowore pointed fingers of blame at Akeredolu’s wife and family members, saying they were trying to use him to milk the state even when Akeredolu requested he should be taken to his hometown so he could rest amid his receding health condition as at that time.
The AAC chieftain revealed that Akeredolu’s wife, brothers and family members flew the governor back to Nigeria from Germany against the latter’s wish, just to use his presence to remove the deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa (now governor) from office.
“In saner climes, those behind Akeredolu’s death will be prosecuted. You can’t hasten the death of somebody and get away with it,” Sowore says while berating Akeredolu’s wife.

The death of Akeredolu, which was announced on Wednesday, December 27th, reportedly shocked Nigerians across the country.
SaharaReporters, however, shed more light on the sketchy information on the cause of his death.
According to the publication, Akeredolu died from Leukemia and Prostate cancer.
Recall that in an exclusive report in January, SaharaReporters revealed that Akeredolu was treating leukemia.
One of the sources in the Alagbaka Government House, cited by the publication in January, said: “The governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu has leukemia, he is really down.”
Leukemia is a cancer of the blood caused by a rise in the number of white blood cells in the body.
