Giving an update on the legal tussle while speaking to BBC News Yoruba in a video transcribed by SaharaReporters, Tani Olohun alleged that he still had cases to answer in Kwara court because the matter was yet to be struck out by the trial judge.
He added that the continuation of the hearing was fixed for Monday but the court did not sit because of the Legal Day celebration in the state.
He said, “Today was fixed for the continuation of the hearing. People thought the case has ended and kept asking why I am still going to court. The truth is that the case is still ongoing because the case is yet to be withdrawn before the court. But what happened today is that there would be sittings today and tomorrow because of the Legal Day celebration in the state.”
The “Isese” worshipper also said it was within the discretionary power of the initiators of the case and the court to either continue or withdraw the case.
“I can’t say if they would discontinue the case in the next sitting day. That depends on the decision of the court and those who brought the case,” he added.
“According to our lawyer, the case has been adjourned to 30th of January, 2024,” Olanrewaju Anuoluwapo, a member of the Isese team stated in the video.
Ifalati Ajeboorisa, a member of Isese Assembly Worldwide, equally mentioned that the parties intended to bring their terms of compromise before the court on Monday but since the court could not sit, that has been postponed till the next adjourned date.
He said, “It is true we had an agreement at a point and we have taken steps to that effect. But those are outside the court. It is not binding on the court. It is now we want to inform the court about the agreement. Those who brought the case will tell the court if they want to continue or not. That was why we came. But the court did not sit because of a reason best known to them. We heard that tomorrow is the celebration of Legal Day.”
