Unidentified gunmen have reportedly killed a suspected husband and wife, leaving their bodies in the trunk of their vehicle.
The victims were discovered by passersby at a desolate location along the Tempo Junction, Umunya axis of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway in the early hours of Wednesday.
A video circulating on social media shows a dark-coloured Toyota Corolla with its doors wide open, surrounded by onlookers. The blood dripping from beneath the vehicle’s trunk suggests that the victims were freshly murdered.
The Anambra State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the incident to Punch.
He stated that police personnel from the Oyi Division recovered the two lifeless bodies and the abandoned vehicle, depositing the bodies in a mortuary.
He said the police also recovered some expanded cartridges at the scene.
Preliminary information indicates that the man and woman showed signs of violence and gunshot injuries.
Investigations are underway to unravel the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
