The Senatorial Chairman of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Alhaji Muritala Adekola Ifawale popularly known as “E le Omo Buruku Danu” has called on the Inspector General of Police, Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Debo Ogundoyin and Commissioner of Police, Adebola Hamzat, to as a matter of urgency curb the nefarious activities of the erstwhile coordinator of the Iba Gani Adams led OPC in Oyo State, Rotimi Oguntunde Olumo.
According to Muritala Ifawale, the Iba Gani Adams led OPC Chairman in Oluyole local government, Ajadi Oluyole popularly known as ‘Afobaje’ on Sunday invited people to his annual ‘Ogun Ajobo’ festival but while the program was going on, Olumo led some thugs to distrupt the program.
“Olumo led some thugs unknowingly to the program and as a result, some of our members sustained several degrees of injury . Most of them were matcheted.
“We were holding the program at Olomi, when suddenly some people came in shooting guns and brandishing cutlasses but because we were taken unaware, they were able to injure a lot of our members.
“Is it a most to be a leader? He has been sacked from Iba Gani Adams led OPC in Oyo State due to his nefarious activities especially in the area of land grabbing. Iba Gani Adams showed him the way out last year.
“You cannot force anybody to follow you. Iba Gani Adams has said you’re no longer wanted again, so, why trying to force yourself through illegal means? How can someone from Offa in Kwara State come to Ibadan to start destroying it? I want to call on Ibadan indigenes not to relax on their oars as Olumo is on the verge of destroying the city.

“There was a lady by the name Wunmi that the thugs brought by Olumo deatlh with and went away with her bag containing over N200, 000 the money meant for the payment of canopies and drinks.
“Some of the people that were severely injured are Adesina Kolawole, Adesina Jubril, and four others. They’re presently being treated at an undisclosed hospital.
“At least, there have been five different people that have one way or the other being coordinator of Iba Gani Adams led OPC in Oyo State that were told their time is up, so why is Olumo bent in using thugs against us?
“Don’t forget that just recently, some people were killed and Hamzat Oriyomi carried the story to the extent that those people are in police net now. He has been shown the way, does he want to die there? Iba Gani Adams said he doesn’t want him again is it a must for him to start using thugs against us?
“Am saying all these because am an Ibadan man and I love my State with all my heart and as a result I wouldn’t want anything that will affect it and that’s why am calling on all the authorities involved to call Olumo to order before things escalates.
“Olumo really disappointed me. I didn’t know he was a thug before. He should go to Lagos to meet Iba Gani Adams that removed him instead of trying to wage war against us here in Ibadan. It’s not as if he can overpower us. We are always fit to the task. He’s a coward with the way he’s behaving.
