Oyo State Government, on Thursday, unveiled 2024 Annual Operational Plan for the health sector to chart its course for the year and also increase health care coverage.
Delivering her speech at A Day Stakeholders’ Meeting and Dissemination of 2024 Annual Operational Plan, organized by Ministry of Health in collaboration with UNICEF in Ibadan, Oyo state Commissioner for Health, Dr.Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, said the strategic document unveiling further affirm the commitment of the Governor Seyi Makinde led administration to improving the health status of the people of the state through the Ministry of health.
Dr. Ajetunmobi explained that the Year 2024 Annual Operational Plan (AOP) is aligned with the vision of the governor on Omituntun 2.0 tagged” Oyo State Roadmap for Sustainable Development 2023 to 2027.
She hinted that the roadmap includes provision of medical equipment for the 299 renovated Primary Health Care Centers and ensured adequate medical personnel in various facilities, 50 ambulances to improve access to emergency services, Electronic Medical Record and Increase Health Insurance Coverage.
She noted that the AOP encompasses key performance indicators, operating budgets, and action plans designed to meet both short-term and long – term objectives of the ministry.
She encouraged health care providers in various facilities to attend to patients promptly and take appropriate decisions at the right time to avert unwanted death or casualties.
Dr. Ajetunmobi expressed optimism that the implementation of the document will assist in reducing health cases in health care facilities.
In his remarks, the Director, Health Planning , Research and Statistics, Oyo State Ministry of Health, Dr. Abass Gbolahan, said the Annual Operational Plan will serve as a working tool for the ministry and its implementing partners.
He added that almost all the diseases were given priority in the document.
According to him,”Oyo state Ministry of Health with the support of other partners and everybody contributed to the 2024 annual operations plan which expects to serve as the working tool.
” This will make us have direction of where we are going, and we prioritize almost all the diseases.
“For instance, malaria was highly emphasized during the meeting being one of the leading causes of death in our environment. So,we look at all the various interventions that need to strategically plan for and want everybody to work on that plan, including our partners
when they come to our state, we give them our AOP because we develop it together to ensure that all of us , whatever we are doing is in amendment with 2.0 vision of his Excellency.
