A teacher of Ansarudeen Senior Grammar School, Badagry seized contrabands (phone and neck chain) from a female student in the school.
The student with her mates traced the teacher to his shop after school to demand for the seized items. A soldier dispersed the unruly students and gave the teacher his phone number to call him should the students come back.
The mother of the student later returned with thugs and some students to mercilessly beat up the teacher at his shop.
The incident has since been reported to the Police and the Ministry of Education.
One of the teachers said “I trust the Lagos State Government. The parent will regret her actions.
“Of the fourteen management functions, discipline is the most important. The Lagos State Government should use this incident to instill discipline into the students and their parents.
“The teacher is the most important factor needed to facilitate learning and he or she must be protected and supported to carry out the assignment effectively.
“The Government and the Union should not treat the humiliation and brutalization lightly. Some of us used everything in us to inspire our students. Teachers must always be encouraged,” she said.
