The Nigerian Army’s 144 Battalion, as part of Operation Hadin Kai stationed in Madagali, Adamawa State, has successfully apprehended a high-ranking commander of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP), Saidu Hassan Yellow, also known as Abu Saidu.
This significant capture was the result of a meticulously planned intelligence operation conducted by the troops in the general area of Mubi Market on April 9, 2024.
Saidu Hassan Yellow, aged 32, had been a prime target for security agencies due to his alleged involvement in orchestrating the attack on Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State on November 12, 2021. During this attack, Brigadier-General Dzarma Zirkusu, Commander of the 28 Task Force Brigade, along with three soldiers, lost their lives while providing reinforcement against the terrorists.
Upon the apprehension, items recovered from Saidu Hassan Yellow included three mobile handsets, three ATM cards, a wristwatch, four rings, a set of keys, and a sum of N1900.
The captured terrorists have been transferred to the military high command for thorough investigation and profiling.
This operation marks a significant achievement in the ongoing efforts to combat insurgency and terrorism in the region. The Nigerian Army continues to demonstrate its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the populace against extremist threats.
