Oyo State Government has advocated for a strong collaboration with Partners in the Health sector to strengthen the health system in the state.
The call was made by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, during an interactive meeting with the respective Partners in the health sector in the State.
According to her, the interactive meeting with the Partners was highly important so that there would be proper coordination between the Partners and the Ministry, which serves as the coordinating unit for all their activities.
The Commissioner explained that when there is synergy between the Partners and the Ministry, it will bring numerous achievements and also pave the way for proper data gathering.
She said:I called for this meeting with our Partners to know more about your contributions to the State. Also to bring to your notice that the State Ministry of Health is the coordinating unit for all your activities.
“Therefore, the Ministry must be carried along in all your activities in the State for proper coordination to avoid clash or repetition of activities.”
Dr. Ajetunmobi, also pledged that the interactive meeting will be on a quarterly basis, therefore urged the Partners to cooperate with the Ministry in the discharge of their duties so that there will be effective coordination to achieve a target goal of strengthening the health system in the State.
The Permanent Secretary, of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Ayinde Akintunde applauded the Partners for their collaborations with the State in funding, technical support, and capacity building to strengthen the health system and for mutual benefit.
Dr. Ayinde therefore called for more synergistic relationship between the partners and the Ministry of Health, adding that whatever challenges they may be facing within the course of performing their duties should be brought to the attention of the Ministry.
Present at the interactive meeting were representatives of Partners such as WHO; APIN; Malaria Consortium; Damien Foundation; IHVN; UNICEF; GHSC; Evidence Action; Breakthrough Action, etc.
