SCORENigeria has scooped that new Super Eagles coach Finidi George will likely settle for a foreign assistant.

Finidi has been given a free hand by his employers, the NFF, to pick his own assistants so as to avoid rancour in the backroom staff of the national team.

Emmanuel Amuneke, who lost out to Finidi for the top post, has been speculated to work as the No 2 man of the Enyimba coach.

However, several top sources told only SCORENigeria the former Ajax winger would rather seek additional help in his new job by working with a foreign coach.

“Finidi will choose his own assistants,” a top source informed SCORENigeria

“He wants to work with those who will add real value to what he is doing and, of course, he also wants to work with people who will be loyal and not those who he cannot trust.”

Samson Siasia worked with Dutchman Simon Kalika with remarkable success at the 2005 U20 World Cup and 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Interestingly, when Finidi led the Super Eagles to beat Ghana in a friendly in Morocco last month, the Black Stars new coach, Otto Addo, also worked with a foreign assistant
