Several top officials have given SCORENigeria an insight to how the NFF will hire a foreign coach for the Super Eagles before the 2025 AFCON qualifiers kick off in September.
“A lot of work has already been done on a foreign coach for the Super Eagles by the NFF technical committee and that will be reviewed,” an official said.
A record 50 foreign coaches applied for the Super Eagles top post when NFF declared it vacant.
The NFF technical committee initially settled for a foreign coach to succeed Jose Peseiro after the Portuguese coach threw in the towel after the AFCON in February.
Antonio Conceicao, Didier Six and Bruno Fernandez were among the five coaches from those applications shortlisted for consideration by the NFF executive committee.
Former Cameroon coach Conceicao was the only foreign coach on a three-man shortlist that was presented when the NFF delegation met with Sports Minister John Enoh.
Finidi George, Daniel Amokachi and Emmanuel Amuneke were the coaches after the technical committee was directed to look inwards for a local coach.
