The Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education, Dr Nureni Adeniran, said the state Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved the recruitment of 7,000 teachers into public primary schools and 100 caregivers in special schools in the state.
Adeniran disclosed this to journalists on Friday at a press conference held at the SUBEB’s headquarters in Ibadan, the state capital.
He said the recruitment was in fulfilment of Makinde’s electoral promises and response to the yearnings of the good people of Oyo State, occasioned by the dearth of teachers in public primary schools in the state.
The OYOSUBEB chairman said the board would make public the preliminary stages of the recruitment exercise at the appropriate time, even as he added that the board would not appoint anybody to serve as agent in the exercise.
Adeniran said the board would also keep the world informed at the appropriate time about the preliminary stages of the recruitment exercise, particularly concerning how the intending applicants would put in their applications and the needed requirements, among others.
He said the board would comply strictly with the directives of the governor that the exercise be conducted strictly on merit, saying the recruitment would also be localised.
Adeniran said no person had been empowered to collect money from anybody on account of the recruitment, warning unsuspecting intending applicants to be wary of scammers.
