The Nigerian Society of Engineers, Oluyole Branch, has renovated and furnished a computer laboratory at the Oladipo Alayande School of Science, Ibadan.
While commissioning the newly renovated building, at the School premises in Ibadan, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Salihu Adelabu, applauded the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Oluyole Branch, for the laudable project and the donation of Ten (10) Unit of Computer set.
The Commissioner, who was represented by the Director of the Applied Science and Technical, Mr. Idowu Adekunle, said the gesture is a legacy that will go into history as a major milestone in the development of education in the state.
He explained that the provision of quality education is paramount to the present administration in the state, that is while education is one of the pillars that it rests on.
He called on all other organizations to emulate the good gesture of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Oluyole Branch, in complementing the government’s efforts in equipping the Schools for better performance in education.
He noted that the ICT facility will afford students access to a wealth of knowledge, information, and education resources.
He pledged that the facilities donated by the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Oluyole Branch, to Alayande School will be judiciously used and maintained.
Earlier, the President, The Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Margaret Oguntala, said that the renovation and donation of the facilities will promote Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics in the Schools.
The president, who was represented by Engr. Olayinka Alli, commended the NSE Oluyole, for keying into the vision as inundated in the NSE Strategic Agenda Document.
He said the project has provided a conducive learning environment where Students can focus, engage and excel.
He maintained that the ICT Facility will open up new vistas for students to explore, learn and innovate.
He therefore appealed to the teachers and students to handle the facilities with care and respect.
In his remarks, the Principal Oladipo Alayande School of Science, Mr. Olapade Oladimeji thanked the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Oluyole, for the donation, saying the facilities will enhance the teaching and learning in the school. Also, prepare students for the challenges of digital age.
He therefore assured the donor that the facilities will be well maintained and used effectively.
