The Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja, is set to receive a beaded crown today, Monday, August 12, from the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.
According to reports from, Ladoja’s decision to accept the crown follows a recent stipulation that it is a mandatory requirement for anyone aspiring to ascend the Olubadan throne.
The former Oyo State Governor will be formally presented with the crown, which symbolises his status as Otun Olubadan, during the inaugural meeting of the Olubadan-in-Council, chaired by Oba Olakulehin.

He received the letter on Friday evening that the crown befitting of his status as Otun Olubadan will be presented to him at the inaugural meeting of Olubadan-in-Council to be presided over by Oba Owolabi Olakulehin on Monday,12th August, at the new Palace, Oke Aremo, Ibadan. The meeting will start at 12.00 noon,” a source revealed
The event is set to take place at the new palace in Oke Aremo, Ibadan, starting at 12:00 noon.
Ladoja had initially rejected the beaded crown when the late Oba Lekan Balogun conferred crowns on other members of the Olubadan-in-Council.
He subsequently took legal action against the Oyo State government and the council, though the dispute was eventually resolved.
Despite his earlier opposition, Ladoja assured that there was no animosity among the council members, emphasizing that the elevated Obas were his friends.
However, he reversed his stance last Sunday during a radio interview, announcing his decision to accept the beaded crown as part of the new requirements for ascending to the position of Olubadan.
