Gunmen have kidnapped over 20 medical and dental students, as well as a House Officer, while they were en- route to a convention in Enugu State, South-Eastern Nigeria.

According to reports, the students, who were travelling together, were ambushed by the gunmen around 5:30 p.m. in the Otukpo area of the state.

The students, from the University of Maiduguri and University of Jos, were headed to the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention in Enugu.

The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the incident.

“Yes, the report of kidnapping is true. The report was received around 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and an investigation is ongoing,” SP Catherine Anene, the spokesperson for the command, said
