The Toronto Police Service has announced the arrest of Amaka Sunnberger, 46, in connection with alleged hate speech.

A statement on the Toronto Police Service’s website, said Sunnberger was taken into custody on Sunday.

She has been charged with uttering threats and is set to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Monday, September 2, 2024, at 10:00 am in courtroom 107.

The police are investigating the incident as a suspected hate-motivated offense.

Sunnberger is accused of making online comments, specifically on TikTok, around August 25, 2024, in which she allegedly threatened the lives of specific members of the Nigerian community.
