The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has declared a nationwide protest set for September 15, 2024, in major cities across Nigeria, in response to the recent fuel price hike announced by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC).
The statement condemned the NNPC’s actions, calling for an immediate reversal of the price hike and urging Nigerian students, civil society organizations, and the public to join the peaceful demonstration.
Comrade Okunomo emphasized that NANS is outraged by the continuous increase in fuel prices under the leadership of NNPC Director-General Mele Kyari, accusing him of incompetence and failing to ensure a stable and affordable fuel supply.
The organization declared that this latest increase is the breaking point and vowed to persist in their demands for better governance and relief for the masses.1
