The Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, has joined his ancestors.

According to sources within the palace, Oba Aromolaran passed away yesterday (Wednesday), after a brief illness.

Though, palace of Owa Obokun has not issued any official statement as regards the passage of the monarch, but sources within the palace confirmed the death.

“Baba has passed, but we are waiting for officials announcement from the palace.

“You can see that they have started performing some traditional rites. This has to be done before any announcement can be made, she added.

Our reporter who visited the palace observed presence of security personnel around the palace.

Our reporter observed that some traditional rites typically performed following the demise of a king are being carried out.

The monarch reigned for over 40 years.
