The family of Chief Mitin Tamaramieyefa has publicly disassociated themselves from the suspension of Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The suspension was announced by Mr. Eniekenemi Mitin, APC Chairman in Ekeremor Local Government Area, Bayelsa State, who is also a son of Chief Mitin Tamaramieyefa.
A statement signed by Hon. Living E. Mitin, representing Ekeremor Constituency II in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, on behalf of the family, emphasized that Mr. Eniekenemi Mitin’s actions were unauthorized and brought shame to their family.
Mr. Eniekenemi Mitin’s lack of understanding of the party’s constitution and suspension procedures raises concerns.
According to Hon. Living Mitin, the suspension letter signed by the Ekeremor APC chairman instead of the ward chairman suggests that Mr. Eniekenemi Mitin is acting on a script from mischievous politicians exploiting his mental health struggles to target Lokpobiri.
The Tamaramieyefa family has enjoyed a long-standing harmonious relationship with the Lokpobiris, predating Mr. Eniekenemi Mitin’s birth. Hon. Living Mitin, representing 32 family members, denounced Mr. Eniekenemi Mitin’s actions as a solo attempt to sever this bond.
Hon. Living Mitin said” the Lokpobiris and the Mirins families has had an harmonious relationship dating back to when Mr. Eniekenemi Mitin was not even born. I Hon. Living Mitin the heir apparent and the representative of 32 members of the Tamaramieyefa family categorically state that Mr. Eniekenemi Mitin is on a lone voyage to sever the family ties that had existed over the years between both families and we will not condole his unbridled action.”
The family apologized to Senator Lokpobiri and those affected, stressing that Mr. Eniekenemi Mitin’s statements do not reflect their values.
They urged the public to disregard the suspension announcement and are seeking help for Mr. Eniekenemi Mitin’s health challenges.
Senator Heineken Lokpobiri boasts an illustrious political career, serving as Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, and former Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly.
