The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, has praised the progress of the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) facility in Lagos, a collaborative effort between NNPC Limited, Century Nigeria Limited, WAEP, and ENSERV.
During his site inspection, Lokpobiri expressed satisfaction with the project’s advancements, highlighting its potential to increase Nigeria’s crude oil production by 40,000 barrels per day.
A statement by the SA Media and Communications to the Minister, Nneamaka Okafor stated that the project aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive for increased production and aims to enhance local capacity, driving investments into Nigeria’s oil sector.
Lokpobiri commended the partnership between NNPC, Century Group, and other stakeholders, emphasizing the project’s critical role in meeting global demand.
“The work done here reflects the desired investments in the oil sector,” Lokpobiri stated. “Projects like this build local capacity and expand crude production beyond current quotas, contributing 40,000 bpd, a step in the right direction for our economy.”
Century Group Chairman, Ken Edward Etete, shared insights into the project’s progress and upcoming milestones.
“We’re on track to complete upgrades within the first quarter of next year,” Etete said, emphasizing the facility’s potential as a key contributor to Nigeria’s energy sector.
The FPSO project demonstrates the power of partnerships in the oil and gas sector, poised to significantly impact Nigeria’s economy and global energy positioning. Its successful completion will bolster Nigeria’s oil production capacity, supporting the government’s commitment to revitalizing the sector.
