Senatorial Chairman of the Iba Gani Adams led Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) for the entire Ibadanland, Comrade Muritala Ifawale Adekola (a.k.a E Le Omo Buruku Danu), has called on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun and Oyo State Commissioner of Police to as a matter of urgency call on his officers to stop taking sides with the accused because of bribe given to them.
Alhaji Adekola, popularly known as Muri Omi, disclosed that his younger brother, Wasiu Olanrewaju bought a parcel of land at Abidogun area of Omi-Adio, Ibadan from one Lateef Waheed.
He said “It was so shocking to see that Lateef went back to the land already sold to my brother and destroyed the four corner-piece that was used to demarcated the land.
“We later learned that he re-sold the land to someone else. As a result, Wasiu had to go and report the matter at Omi-Adio police station. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Akanbi instructed his men Inspector Tunde and Peter to go and investigate the matter.
“When we got back to the station, Lateef promised to give him back his money and a date was picked to do that, but unfortunately, instead of him to pay back, he went and wrote a petition against Wasiu that he stole his property and alas, the case was transfered to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) at Iyaganku, Dugbe, Ibadan.
“They’re now twisting the case upside down. Instead of the police to do the right thing, they started siding the accuse. They had to lock up Wasiu in the cell.
“This is not fair at all and that’s why am shouting out to let you know. I don’t want to do something that will make me go against the law of the land.
“Kindly call your men to other in this respect. They should do the right thing now instead of ganging up against the rightful complainant.
