Troops of the Nigerian Army have intercepted two Dangote trucks and three others allegedly transporting banned goods to the Republic of Cameroon. The trucks, loaded with 600 50kg bags of cement each, were on Friday paraded to journalists at the headquarters of the Nigerian police in Yola, the Adamawa state capital. The interception followed an executive order banning the transportation of building materials across the country’s border through Adamawa routes by the Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri. A 27-year-old Alice Odey, and 39-year-old Blessing Onagbulum, were on Friday arraigned in a zonal Chief Magistrates’ Court, New Karu, Nasarawa State, for allegedly fighting and inflicting injury on themselves on February 14. According to reports, both victims, who reside in New Nyanya, Karu, Nasarawa State, were charged with breach of public peace, defamation of character and causing harm. They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge. National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), in collaboration with the Abia State government, has seized hard drugs that weighed 1.217 kg in a sting operation jointly carried out in Umuahia. One Adaobi Nweke, identified as a drug lord and a lawyer was arrested along with four hard drug peddlers in Umuahia during the operation. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) will no longer allow cash for Business Travel Allowance (BTA) and Personal Travel Allowance (PTA). All such allowances are to be issued in cards, the bank has announced. It said that the new measure was part of efforts towards making such that only genuine travellers obtained BTA and PTA, going forward.

According to report by Daily Post, the price of a 50-kilogram bag of cement has increased to between N10,000 and N15,000 in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. A market survey conducted on Friday by DAILY POST in Gwarimpa, Area 10, Kubwa, Lugbe, and Dawaki showed that a 50kg bag of Dangote cement is N10,000, and BUA cement stood at N15,000.
