The Special Investigator on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and other related entities, Jim Obaze, has revealed that the former apex bank governor, Godwin Emefiele, illegally deposited billions of naira in 593 foreign bank accounts. Obaze, in a report tagged, ‘Report of the Special Investigation on CBN and Related Entities’, said Emefiele stashed the money in the United States, United Kingdom, and China without the approval of the apex bank’s board of directors and the CBN Investment Committee. The Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has directed the immediate dismissal of two Special Constabularies working with the state command who were caught on camera demanding money from a Dutch female biker tourist who was touring African countries. The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Adebola Hamzat, on Thursday ordered immediate dismissal of the two constabularies identified as Jimoh Lukman and Kareem Fatai, for extortion. Operatives of the Zone 2 Police Command, comprising Lagos and Ogun states, have arrested three men with two human hearts. The three men were arrested in connection with the recovery of two suspected human heart in one of the suspect’s apartment in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State. The principal suspect, Moshood Najimdeen was alleged to have hired the services of one Adebanjo Wasiu, to get him two human hearts. The Federal Government on Thursday, December 21, apologised to Nigerians over the current scarcity of Naira notes in circulation, saying that it will ease in the coming year. The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris said the scarcity was not deliberate. There are concerns at the Department of the State Security Service (DSS) following the decision of a director to remain in service, despite retiring in 2020. Israel has proposed a fresh pause in fighting in exchange for Hamas releasing hostages that are still held captive in Gaza, a source familiar with the negotiations told CNN. A total of 113 Nigerian Army generals, on Tuesday, bowed out of the service. The retiring officers comprise one General, one Lieutenant General, 67 Major Generals, and 44 Brigadier Generals.   Nigerian bakers have again hinted that bread prices will increase by 15 percent to 20 percent in January 2024. The disclosure was made by Emmanuel Onuorah, the President of the Premium Breadmakers Association of Nigeria, during a Channels Television interview on Wednesday.
