In a heartfelt address, Ibadan based Fuji musician, Taye Currency has publicly apologized to his senior colleague, Alhaji Alabi Pasuma, following backlash over comments he made during a recent performance.

During the event, Taye Currency expressed his disapproval of fans referring to Pasuma as his ‘father’ in the music industry. He clarified that while he respects Pasuma as an elder brother, he does not consider him a paternal figure, a statement that sparked controversy and heated discussions on social media.

In light of the uproar, Taye Currency took to social media to clarify his remarks and extend an apology. In a viral video, he addressed his fans and supporters, particularly those of Pasuma, acknowledging the misunderstanding that arose from his comments.

“Good day, everyone. My name is Alhaji Taye Currency. Following the recent rumors circulating on social media, I want to greet our people and all those who love us, especially Pasuma’s supporters and the lovers of Fuji music in general,” he began.

He continued, “I sincerely apologize for what happened because people interpret words differently, and that’s what I have come to understand. Some individuals have misinterpreted my words as an insult to Pasuma, but I don’t see how anyone can point to anything I said as abusive. He is my boss. Arabanbi, Apesin, Oganla Fuji. We are one, so please don’t separate us.”

Taye Currency emphasized his loyalty to Pasuma, stating, “Alhaji Alabi Pasuma is my boss. He knows I’m loyal to him. For it not to seem disrespectful, I apologize to Pasuma. You are an elder. To Pasuma’s fans club, I’m sorry; Taye Currency fans, one love. Alhaji Shefiu Alao, please don’t be angry,” he expressed in Yoruba.

The apology comes as Taye Currency reflects on his journey in the music industry, crediting his success to the mentorship and guidance he received from Pasuma, who has been a significant influence in his career since he started as a teenager.

As the dust settles on this incident, both artists continue to be celebrated figures in the Fuji music scene, with fans hopeful for a swift resolution and continued camaraderie between the two.
